Look up, down and all around on Gower Street. Art is everywhere.
Traditionally, I’ve only gone up and down Gower and its parallel streets on my endless hunt for Hollywood sign pictures. It hit me that I was missing out given the treasure trove of street art that lines Gower. Some of the city’s biggest graffiti names have left their marks on this warehouse-heavy area. In between multi-family apartment units and car garages, warehouses and industry, true-form graffiti and spray paint drips define Gower and its adjoining alleys. The sidewalks are a perfect backdrop for stenciled paintings. A few murals, more reminiscent of urban art in other parts of LA, are so stunning and story-drenched that you have to spend at least a few minutes taking them in, in their entirety. If you love street art, Gower is one of the lesser-frequented areas worth visiting.
The pictures below highlight Gower’s phenomenal street art as well as the area’s transitioning identity.
